Story Telling

The world is changing and the future is diverse and inclusive. Not everybody is happy or struggles about an everchanging society. But change is inevitable.

How do we learn and understand, story-letting is a tool that will help.

Who tells the story is very important, whose narrative is being told. Since WW2 the narrative has been mainly white cis and heterosexual. But there are many narratives and many stories that are worth listening to, make us understand our past and help us shape our future.

I would like to share a story with you that is very dear to me. In WW2 openly homosexual men and lesbian women fight the nazi’s. Many of us do not know this, even within the LGBTQAI+ community many are unaware of this.

Queer Storyteller

Why would they do such a thing in a homophobic society that was nothing more than hostile to them?

Gay resistance fighters were an inconvenient truth. So their story was not told.

Does that mean it did not happen? No but the narrative did not allow it.

On the 2nd of August 2024 during Pride Amsterdam I will be telling the story of these gay resistance fighters in het Parool Theater in Amsterdam. You are very welcome to join. Entrance is free

But there as so many stories to be told.

Stories about the LGBTQAI+ community, their forgotten heroes.

About why the letter soup LGBTQAI+ as some call it is nothing new and a natural evolution in words, history and more.

Do you feel your audience is in need of a story that needs to be told, not to lecture but to illustrate and give that different narrative.

Henk is available for speaking engagements, chairman and more.
